Sleeping Beauty
As you have read in our latest news page we put on a performance of Sleeping Beauty on May 18th 2003 at the Kennet School in Thatcham
This was a major project involving all the ballet students other than our very youngest class. (But don't worry, parents, their time will come)
Congratulations to everyone who took part. Thanks to your help and hard work the show was a fantastic success and looked extremely professional.
We then did a repeat performance as part of the Thatcham Arts Festival on 18th October.

All of you who came to the first rehearsal day will have seen the FANTASTIC costumes the performers will be wearing. Definitely as good as Covent Garden!!
The first all day rehearsal was great fun (if a bit exhausting for Jane and Clare)
Have a look at the pictures Sleeping Beauty Photos of the day. This show is really beginning to come together - next week's rehearsal on the real stage will be even more fun.
Rehearsals
Most rehearsals will take place during normal class times
We think it would be a good idea for the children to get used to dancing on the stage at the Kennet School before our dress rehearsal on 17th May. We have now booked the Kennet School for our 2nd rehearsal day on 12th April so please make a note in your diaries that the children should be delivered there and not the Memorial Hall in Upper Bucklebury.
Our 1st day rehearsal on Saturday, 5th April will still be held at the ballet school.
Please make sure the children arrive for both these day rehearsals by 10am together with sufficient refreshments to last them through the day until 5pm.
We shall be taking photographs during both days so it would be very helpful if you could send your daughter with appropriate hair tidying equipment! Normal ballet gear should be worn although we envisage costume fittings during both days.
Children in the Primary Class (9.30 on Saturdays) will only be needed until 12.30 on both days. The rest of the cast should bring a packed lunch and be collected at 5.00pm
There will be a small charge for these rehearsal days of £
£5 per child per day (half price for Primary pupils) which you will find on your next term account.
The Production team has been holding frequent meetings and work is well underway
Costumes
Hazel Arnold has agreed to take control of designing and making all the costumes. WOW!
Jane and Hazel have been off shopping for glittery material and I am sure the costumes are going to be fantastic!
Lighting, Stage Management and Effects (Oh yes we will have some EFFECTS)
Claire Bowden and David Heyler are helping to sort out these very important areas.
I will keep you posted with further information as the production develops
